With the victory, after just 18 games, Villa moved fourth on the standings with 33 points, seven adrift of leaders Kitara.

Uganda Premier League record holders (16) SC Villa picked a hugely important 1-0 victory over historical nemesis Express FC in the Kampala Derby on Saturday at the Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.

Charles Lwanga's sole first-half goal was enough for the Jogoo to sink the Red Eagles.

With the victory, after just 18 games, Villa moved fourth on the standings with 33 points, seven adrift of leaders Kitara.

It's however, important to note that Kitara have played two games more than Villa, who still have to face Vipers SC and BUL FC for their games in hand.

Meanwhile, Express are now eighth on the log with points after 20 games.

Elsewhere, Cromwell Rwothomio scored the only goal of the evening as NEC FC edged Gaddafi FC 1-0 at the Gaddafi Arena.

Victory took NEC third on the log with 34 points, while Gaddafi are 13th with 18 points.

In the final game on the day, Brian Kalumba and Ezekiel Katende were on target as UPDF FC beat Busoga United at Bombo in a contest for the relegation-threatened.

Despite the win, UPDF stayed 15th on the 16-team table with 13 points, while Busoga United are 14th with 16.
