His last appearance draws even further back to 2020, coming on to play 36 minutes as Uganda suffered a 1-0 defeat to South Sudan in the qualifiers of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The winger had initially been a pillar as Uganda Cranes qualified for the 2017 and 2019 Africa Cup of Nations editions in Gabon and Egypt, respectively.

He now returns to the team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Guinea and Somalia, slated for Friday and Tuesday next week, respectively.

“It is always a pleasure to come back to the National Team," Luwagga told FUFA media.

"I'm always ready and working hard to represent my country. So I’m delighted to be here and try to help my country to do well,” he started.

Luwagga hopes he can pass on the knowledge and experience acquired over time to the new crop of players on the national senior team.

“I need to be an example to the young players on the team," Luwagga stressed before adding:

"I have not played with most of them, but this is an opportunity for me to share knowledge with them and learn from them."

"We definitely have a good team, and as players, we only have to step up and do what is required of us," Luwagga added.

“ To the fans, I ask you to rally behind us, and we promise you to do our best and make you proud.” He said.
