Fiston Kalala Mayele is easily the most loved player at Young Africans by the fans because of what he does best, scoring goals.

The DRC forward reached the 50-goal mark across all competitions after scoring twice away against Rivers United in the CAF Confederations Cup quarter-final first leg.

“Today is a very special day for me; I want to thank the club, my teammates, the fans and everyone who works for the club for appreciating my efforts,” Mayele told the club media.

“This really means a lot because ever since I joined Yanga, my target has always been to score goals,”

“I hope to score more as I work closely with my teammates to take this great club to greater heights.”

The ‘predator’ as he is fondly known for also has the most sought-after goal celebration termed ‘Tetema’, which the Yanga fans now know.

Whenever the forward scores for for the green and gold, he lifts his left arm up and slaps his wrist four times as he heads the in air each time, engaging the fans in action as well.

Mayele joined Young Africans from AS Vita in 2021, and he has since attained a cult hero status at the club, winning the league and being the club’s top scorer for all the seasons he has played at Yanga.

The ‘predator’ will be expected to lead his side on Sunday when they face Rivers United in the return leg of the CAF Confederations Cup, which Yanga leads 2-0 on aggregate.
