However, the alleged allowances allocated to each participant have sparked anger, especially from Kityo and a section of other Ugandans.

Ugandan Members of Parliament who participated in the two-week 2023 East African Parliamentary Games in Rwanda will each smile home to 38 million shillings, according to the Uganda Netball Federation president Sarah Babirye Kityo.

Uganda emerged as the overall winners in the games, retaining the championship won in 2022, with successes in football and netball.

Kityo juxtaposed to how much the Uganda national netball team, the She Cranes, have been earning after continental and global triumphs.

"Parliament goes to Rwanda for interparliamentary games; each member receives UGX. 38 Million in two weeks," Kityo said via her know X handle.

"However, the she Cranes, whose job is to represent this country, went to Namibia to represent Uganda in two games: Pent series & Africa champions, each received UGX. 500K," she added in disappointment.

The embattled UNF boss feels priority should be given to the national teams rather than the "luxurious" events.

"Parliamentarians who already receive tens of millions as salary received that money as take home. Not putting in consideration their accommodation, meals and other costs."

"Should the country be spending billions on luxurious trips for politicians or invest these sums in sports Federations that are producing & exporting talent," she summed.

It should be noted that Kityo has for months been locked out of office and been thrown in and out of jail over charges related to funds misappropriation.

Her troubles spanned from her standing misunderstandings with National Council of Sports (NCS) Secretary General Patrick Ogwel as the two accused each other of in-accountability.
