35 complete FUBA Beginners' Coaching Course

After winning the election to return to office as FUBA President in March, Nasser Sserunjogi revealed that his administration would focus on capacity building in areas of coaching and refereeing.

And in a bid to increase the coaching scope, FUBA organised a Beginners' Coaching Course that attracted 35 participants.

The course was organised under the auspices of FUBA, in association with the Youth, mini basketball and Educational Institutions Commission over the weekend and climaxed on Sunday.

The course mainly focused on the following areas of Introduction of coaching Players, Coaches' Pathways, Development as a Coach and Fundamental Skills and Hands-on Practice.

Seasoned coaches, including FUBA Technical Director and UCU Canons head coach Nicholas Natuheraza, Gazelles assistant coach Mavita Ali and former National Youth Team Coach Albert Aciko, conducted the training.

All 35 participants received certificates and will be followed up to progress and get to FIBA Level One grade in the next year.

"The participants were encouraged to go back to the field and practice what they have learnt in the Three Days. Follow-up will be done on each and everyone," FUBA Youth and Mini Basketball Commissioner Patricia Ayebare told Pulse Sports.

Schools like Train Up A Child - Bugolobi, Janan Primary School, St. Francis Junior School - Buddo, Nation Changers - Mukono, Hill Preparatory School - Naguru, Delhi Public School, Soroti Secondary School and Watoto Schools are some of the institutions that sent participants.

Academies like Triple Threat Basketball Academy, Rockwell Basketball Academy, JT Jaguars Basketball Academy, Holy Street Basketball Academy, Purpose Driven Life Foundation Academy, and Slum Basketball Academy also took part.
