AC Milan have reportedly decided to shelve their pursuit of Nigerian forward Victor Boniface, ending hopes of the Super Eagles star’s much-anticipated move to the Serie A giants.
The decision comes after Boniface underwent four separate medical examinations in Milan, none of which convinced the club to finalize the transfer from Bayer Leverkusen.
According to reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport via Getfootball, Milan are set to withdraw from the deal entirely, with Boniface returning to Germany according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Rossoneri are now shifting focus to signing two new strikers, leaving Boniface’s dream of joining Milan in serious doubt.
According to Pulse Sports Nigeria, Boniface was closing in on a move to Italian powerhouse AC Milan after reaching a verbal agreement.
The deal involved Bayer 04 Leverkusen and Milan being in advanced negotiations over a permanent transfer for the Nigerian forward.
However, with the latest development, that move looks set to fall through, with the crux of the issue lying in the medical results, which revealed that Boniface’s right knee is not fully fit.
The 24-year-old striker, who has twice suffered ruptured cruciate ligament injuries, showed lingering concerns from these past injuries.
Although Boniface’s recent absences over the last two seasons have been predominantly due to muscle problems rather than his cruciate ligament, Milan’s medical team remains cautious.
This setback is a major blow for both Boniface and the Rossoneri, who have been keen to bolster their attacking options this transfer window.

Milan will now redirect their resources toward securing two alternative strikers in a bid to strengthen their squad.
For Boniface, the dream of starring in Serie A’s elite at Milan has been put on hold, as he returns to Bayer Leverkusen with the hope of regaining full fitness and reviving his transfer prospects in the near future.
