"I’m grateful for every moment, every lesson, and the incredible support from the President, my teammates, coaches, staff and, most importantly, the Young Africans fans."

Despite his brief tenure, Okello described his time in Tanzania as a significant period in his professional journey.

"As I leave to embrace another challenge, I do so with a heart full of gratitude and unforgettable memories. It has been an honour to wear the green and yellow jersey," he added.

Stellar Seven-Month Spell Earns Okello Move to Morocco

The 26-year-old attacking midfielder joined Yanga from Vipers SC in January and made an immediate impact, becoming a key figure in their attack.

He was instrumental in Yanga's successful defence of the Tanzanian Premier League title, contributing 14 goals and eight assists.

His stellar performances caught the attention of several clubs, with AS FAR ultimately securing his signature. While the official transfer fee remains undisclosed, reports suggest the deal is valued between $1.2 million and $1.5 million. AS FAR officially announced Okello's signing on August 20.

This move marks another major step in a career that has seen Okello play across the continent. He first rose to prominence at KCCA FC in Uganda before moving to Algerian club Paradou AC in 2020. He later returned to KCCA on loan before joining Vipers SC, where he revitalised his career.

During his time at Vipers, Okello was instrumental in their 2024/25 domestic double, winning both the Uganda Premier League and the Uganda Cup.

He also finished the season as the league's top scorer with 19 goals, a feat that earned him the move to Yanga.

The transfer to AS FAR represents a return to North African football for Okello, who will now aim to make his mark in the highly competitive Moroccan top flight.

In his parting words to the Tanzanian club, Okello said, "Thank you, Young Africans SC for giving me a home in Tanzania. You will always hold a special place in my life. See you soon."
