AC Milan's star forward Samuel Chukwueze has sent a resounding message to the African football community following Nigeria's recent performances in the African Cup of Nations (Afcon).
‘We are ready to fight’ — Chukwueze
Chukwueze, a key player in Nigeria's quest for continental glory, confidently expressed the team's readiness to battle for their fourth Afcon title. "We played with our hearts. This game shows we are ready to fight for Afcon," he said while speaking to the BBC.
His statement resonates with the team's commitment and the passionate display seen in their last game against Ivory Coast.
Chukwueze eyes final group match
The Nigerian forward also acknowledged the complexity of their group and the importance of their final match. He emphasised the absence of underdogs in this edition of Afcon, specifically mentioning Guinea-Bissau's strength.
"This group is complicated but the most important game now is the last game. There is no small country in this AFCON and Guinea-Bissau are good. We've played them twice in qualifying and we lost one," Chukwueze remarked.
He underlined the necessity of winning the last group match to secure a top spot and advance into the next round. "We need to win the last game to top the group and ensure we qualify for the next round."
