AFCON 2023: Equatorial Guinea head coach sends warning to Super Eagles and Osimhen

Juan Micha, the head coach of Equatorial Guinea, says his team wants to start the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations campaign with a victory over the Super Eagles of Nigeria, taking home all three points.

Micha is unwilling to go toward the negative side of history, even though the Nzalang Nacional has suffered defeats to the Super Eagles in their last two meetings.

The West Africans are eager to add the Super Eagles to their list of victims as they haven't lost in more than a year.

Speaking at the press conference, he detailed the challenge the Super Eagles pose.

Coming into the game, the Super Eagles are the clear favorites against Equatorial Guinea.

On the other hand, Micha stated that his team hopes to win their opening match of the tournament.

He said, “Facing Nigeria in the first match will not be easy.

"They have a strong team and have reached a high level of technical capabilities, so we will try to confront them with all our strength.

"It is important that we start the first match without losing."

This comes after Nigerian football fans expressed concern for the Super Eagles following Ivory Coast's win against Guinea-Bissau.

The match between Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea is scheduled to take place at the Alassanne Quattara Stadium in Ebimpe, Abidjan.

The game is scheduled to begin at 3:00 pm Nigerian time.
