AFCON 2023: Sanwo-Olu hails Super Eagles for bringing Nigerians together
Ivory Coast won the Africa Cup of Nations impressively on home soil, defeating Nigeria 2-1 in the Sunday evening final.
Nigeria took the lead in the first half thanks to a header from William Troost Ekong.
But after Franck Kessie leveled the score in the 62nd minute, Sebastian Haller scored the game-winning goal in the 81st.
Ivory Coast has won the trophy just three times in their history, after winning it in 1992 and 2015.
However, it turned out to be the final heartbreak for the three-time winners, Nigeria.

Following the defeat, Lagos State Governor Babjide Sanwo-Olu took to social media to praise the Super Eagles' effort at the AFCON.
A very sad loss for the Super Eagles. They gave their all in this tournament, but in the end, it was left to fine margins.
