AFCON 2023: Super Eagles star Moses Simon celebrates Man of the Match award despite criticism

The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has selected Moses Simon as the Man of the Match for Nigeria's 1-0 victory over Guinea-Bissau.
The Nantes winger, who was starting for the first time in the competition, was crucial to Nigeria's triumph.
Nine minutes before the end of the first half, Simon's cross made its way into the net to score Nigeria's only goal of the match.

One player who rose to the trends following the game was Nantes forward Moses Simon.
Simon selected as Man of the Man of the Match by CAF did not go down well with Nigerian football fans.
The 28-year-old forward was criticized with some fans saying he squandered a clear chance despite creating the only goal of the game.

Speaking to CAF after the game, Simon said, "In good shape, both physically and mentally, I attempt many things, even if the outcomes don't always align with my intentions.
"I position myself where I am needed. Our primary goal was to secure a victory, ensuring our qualification for the knockout stage and avoiding complicated calculations."
Nigeria will play the second-placed team in Group C on January 27 at the Stade Félix Houphouët Boigny stadium in Abidjan.
