Not everyone was happy for Boniface and his girlfriend, however, as many fans on social media platform X were critical of the Nigerian striker for not being romantically involved with a fellow Nigerian, instead choosing a white, Norwegian girlfriend.
One user wrote, “Most African footballers don’t like their country women. Why ?” while others piled on with the same rhetoric in response to a picture of Boniface and Rikke Hermine.

Despite the barrage of questions levelled against Boniface for his choice in girlfriends, some were still supportive of the Bayer Leverkusen striker’s relationship.
Boniface would care little about the naysayers after enjoying a sensational first season in the Bundesliga with Bayer Leverkusen, scoring 14 goals and providing nine assists in only 23 games as The Red and Blacks claimed an unprecedented league title.
