'Against all odds' - Christian Coleman pens his emotions after recent heartbreak at USA Track and Field Championships
Following another heartbreaking loss at the USA Track and Field Championships, Christian Coleman has penned his emotions in a tweet shared on his X page.
The former world champion for the second consecutive year, failed to make the US individual team to a major championship, after narrowly missing out in the 100m final.
Coleman finished fifth in a Season's Best (SB) of 9.86s - his first legal sub-10.00s of the year. The race was won by Kenny Bednarek in a new Personal Best (PB) of 9.79s, edging training partner Courtney Lindsey, also in a PB of 9.82s, as college standout T'Mars McCallum was third in 9.83s, and Trayvon Bromell fourth in 9.84s.

With only the Top 3 finishers securing their spot at the World Championships in Tokyo this summer, Coleman has now missed out on the team for another year after the same scenario happened last year at the US Olympic trials.
Despite the heartbreaking turnout, Coleman remains positive for the rest of the season.
"Against all odds. 9.86s today. Sucks to miss top 3 but we right where we need to be and headed in the right direction. God is the greatest!!!," he tweeted on his X page.
Coleman was in a rollercoaster of emotions heading to the US Championships, first struggling with breaking the sub-10s mark - a time needed to at least make the 100m final.
Then, he was domestically assaulted by his girlfriend Sha'Carri Richardson at the airport, which saw her being arrested. Although she was released 19 hours later, after he chose not to press charges.
With another disappointing loss at the US Championships, the 60m world record holder will aim to try and make the team in the 200m, which he's scheduled to compete in on Sunday.
