Nigerian legend Asisat Oshoala was all smiles as she received a warm reception and welcome from her club Bay FC on her return to the United States after a successful international duty.

The former Barcelona forward was a part of the Nigeria Super Falcons team that recently went, saw, and conquered Africa in Morocco to seal a record-extending 10th WAFCON title.

Oshoala, who played mostly as a fringe player, watched as Esther Okoronkwo-inspired Super Falcons came from behind twice to beat hosts Morocco 3-2 in a dramatic final.

The 29-year-old was also a part of all the celebrations in Nigeria that culminated in a lavish celebration from Nigerians and the Federal Government, who rewarded the Falcons handsomely, even though the pledges haven’t been fulfilled yet, according to skipper Rasheedat Ajibade.

Bay celebrate Oshoala

However, after the celebrations in Nigeria, Oshoala is back in the US and received a hero’s welcome from her NWSL side.

Ahead of their home game against San Diego Waves, Bay FC took to social media to share the celebration, with colourful images and a lovely message for their Nigerian star.

“Welcome back, champ!” their message read on X, formerly Twitter. “Before tonight’s match, we celebrated @AsisatOshoala and the @NGSuper_Falcons for their WAFCON title,” it added.

Despite the positive atmosphere before the game, Oshoala’s presence was not enough to inspire the club to their first win in five matches, with the Agba baller featuring for just 14 minutes.

Oshoala's Bay currently sits 10th on the NWSL table, with their last win coming in a 1-0 victory against the Portland Thorns back in June. They will, however, hope that the return of the Nigerian will finally help them deliver the goods in subsequent games.
