Allan Okello Speaks Out After Ending Goal Drought for Yanga SC
Young Africans secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Singida Fountain Gate in a one-sided NBC Premier League clash on Thursday evening, a match highlighted by Ugandan playmaker Allan Okello finally getting on the scoresheet for his new club.
Allan Okello, who had gone 10 games without a goal since joining the club, broke his duck from the penalty spot to help seal a comfortable win for the league leaders.
The visitors took the lead in the 37th minute when Prince Dube found the net with a brilliant finish, delighting the traveling Yanga supporters.
Their advantage was doubled just before halftime after Dube was brought down inside the box, earning his side a penalty.
Dube handed the spot-kick duties to Allan Okello, who confidently dispatched the ball into the bottom corner from 12 yards to extend Yanga's lead.
Ten minutes into the second half, the match was effectively put to bed. Dube unleashed a powerful long-range shot that the goalkeeper could only parry, and Mudathir Yahya was perfectly positioned to capitalise on the rebound and make it 3-0.
Despite creating several more opportunities to add to their tally, Young Africans were denied by a resilient Singida defense determined to prevent further damage.
The win solidifies Young Africans' position at the top of the league table, moving them to 32 points after 12 matches. Singida Fountain Gate remains in ninth place with 19 points from the same number of games.
