Allegri hails extraordinary Pogba for clutch performance

Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri was full of praise for former Manchester United man Paul Pogba after he came on to help them earn a point.

The Old Lady avoided suffering a first-leg deficit at home thanks to two substitutes combining to give them a late 1-1 equaliser against Sevilla at the Allianz Stadium. 

The match in brief

The visitors grabbed a 26th-minute opener against the run of play when Lucas Ocampos set up Youssef En-Nesyri.

Despite Juve's second-half charge, they looked headed for defeat before Paul Pogba headed the ball towards Federico Gatti, who in turn headed him for a 97th-minute equaliser. 

The Frenchman's assist for the Italian ensured Allegri's team went into the second-leg next week without a goal deficit hanging over their heads.

The manager was appreciative of Pogba's impact off the bench and assured that he would have started the Frenchman if he were in better fitness conditions.  

“When he plays in the opponent’s half, he becomes an extraordinary player,” he said, per GetfootballnewsItaly.

“If he was in optimal condition, obviously I would start him. He made a big contribution.”
