Angella Okutoyi crowned W15 Monastir champion

Kenya's tennis sensation Angela Okutoyi has officially been crowned the International Tennis Federation (ITF) W15 Monastir champion.

In her final match against USA’s tennis ace Isabella Harvison, Okutoyi was flawless as she stunned the American to win 2-0. The first set was an easy take for the Kenyan as she won 6-2, however, the second set was a bit challenging but she still managed to take it winning 7-6.

The two-time African champion was just from reigning supreme in the semifinal game that she played yesterday. At the game, she was also in a class of her own as she annihilated India’s Zeel Desai to win 2-0 in straight sets of 6-1 and 7-6.

The 2022 Wimbledon Junior Doubles champion opened her campaign in the Round of 32 where she won over Germany’s Helena Buchwald. She won 7-5 in the first set before shocking the German 6-2 to win the second set.

In her Round of 16 match, Okutoyi was also irrepressible as she won 2-0 (6-4, 6-0) over France’s Yasmin Mansouri.

She maintained the hot streak to win the quarterfinal over Italy’s Anastasia Abbagnato. Okutoyi secured a 2-1 hard-fought win. She started off on a high taking the first set 6-2 before faltering in the second set where she lost 1-6. In the third set, she announced her return with a stunning 6-1 win.
