Irrepressible Angella Okutoyi cruises to ITF Tunisia 32A final

Kenya's tennis sensation Angela Okutoyi has maintained her hot streak in Tunisia as she eyes her first historic appearance at next year's Paris Olympics.

Okutoyi, who is currently competing in the International Tennis Federation Tunisia 32A, has proven to be in great shape and unbeatable.

In her semifinal match on Saturday against India’s Zeel Desai, the two-time African champion was in a class of her own as she destroyed Desai 2-0 in straight sets of 6-1 and 7-6. She opened her campaign in the Round of 32 where she won dominantly over Germany’s Helena Buchwald.

The 2022 Wimbledon Junior Doubles champion won 7-5 in the first set before destroying the German in the second set with a 6-2 win.

In her Round of 16 match, Okutoyi was also irrepressible as she won 2-0 (6-4, 6-0) over France’s Yasmin Mansouri. She extended the hot streak to win the quarterfinal over Italy’s Anastasia Abbagnato.

In her highly contested match against the Italian, Okutoyi secured a 2-1 hard-fought win. She started off on a good note taking the first set 6-2 before faltering in the second set where she lost 1-6. In the third set, she announced her return with a stunning 6-1 win.

She now heads to the final ready to rumble and stamp authority as one of the world’s best upcoming tennis players. She will be up against USA’s tennis ace Isabella Harvison, however, the dates are yet to be revealed.
