Anthony Joshua does not believe Tyson Fury's contract talks
In an attempt to revive their tiresome and unsuccessful bout negotiations from the previous year, Tyson Fury recently claimed that he had given Anthony Joshua a contract.
The WBC Heavyweight Champion has been actively looking for an opponent for the summer, despite reports of a fight in Australia against a famous Australian.
To the disappointment of boxing fans, the highly public domestic rivalry discussions near the end of 2022 came to an end in a blaze of deadlines and demands.
Hearn on Joshua vs Fury
Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport, Joshua's promoter, downplayed the notion that any official communication had been issued between the camps in an interview with Boxing Social.
He said, “There’s definitely no contract. His team have not sent any contract to us or Anthony Joshua. So I’m not sure what he’s talking about there.”
“George Warren did email on Wednesday saying that they’d be interested to look at the fight for September. I then called him, we had a chat, explained the situation.
"We’re negotiating for the Deontay Wilder fight. We’re waiting on a finalised offer. We’re fighting in August. But, of course the Tyson Fury fight is a fight that we love. It’s a big fight.”
The promoter claimed that from Joshua's perspective, all he sees are various promises from the champion to generate conversation, and claimed that his boxer "doesn't believe" the offer is genuine.
