Former Inter Milan and Juventus manager Antonio Conte has reportedly withdrawn from contention to become the next Napoli manager.
Napoli's managerial problems
The Partenopei put up a shoddy title defence this season—the second worst in Serie A history—and have had huge instability in the dugout all campaign.
Since Luciano Spaletti left the role after leading Napoli to a historic Scudetto last season, Aurelio de Laurentiis has employed Rudi Garcia, Walter Mazzarri and Francesco Calzona, all of whom have failed to replicate the magic of the current Azzurri boss. Napoli have made a huge effort to bring in Antonio Conte towards next season, but will now have to chase other avenues.
Conte no longer in contention
According to CN24, discussions with Antonio Conte to sit on the bench at Diego Armando Maradona have hit a snag after the former Chelsea boss pulled interest.
According to the report, Conte questioned Napoli's ambitions and standards. Also, the report stated that Conte did not appreciate being bandied around as one of many candidates for the job.
