Bayern Munich sporting director Christoph Freund has refused to rule out a potential swoop for Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, amid reports that the Bavarians have already agreed personal terms with the Senegalese forward.

Jackson has endured a turbulent spell at Stamford Bridge since joining from Villarreal in 2023. Despite flashes of promise, he has struggled to convince under new Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca.

The 23-year-old was left out of the squad for last weekend’s Premier League clash against West Ham, raising further doubts over his future.

Chelsea’s summer acquisitions of Joao Pedro from Brighton and Liam Delap have further pushed Jackson down the pecking order.

The club are eager to offload players to balance the books, but their hefty valuation of the Senegal international has been a stumbling block. A loan move to Bayern is now considered the most realistic option.

What Freund said

Freund has not dismissed the possibility of pursuing Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson, following reports that Bayern Munich have already reached an agreement on personal terms with the Senegalese forward.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Freund was cautious but suggestive about Bayern’s interest.

“I’m not denying anything. There are a lot of names floating around. The transfer window is open until next Monday, and anything can still happen before then,” Freund told the German press.

The Bundesliga champions have been scouring the market for attacking reinforcements, and Jackson’s availability has made him a viable target.

Competition for Jackson’s Signature

Jackson has attracted interest from several European clubs, with Aston Villa, Napoli, Newcastle United, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur all previously linked.

Earlier this summer, Bayern sporting director Max Eberl dismissed reports of Jackson being on the club’s shortlist. But the recent developments suggest the Bundesliga giants are reconsidering their stance as they seek a long-term successor to Harry Kane, who is entering his second season in Bavaria.
