Vipers Lose Influential Midfielder to Kenyan Giants AFC Leopards

Kenyan giants AFC Leopards have officially signed veteran Ugandan midfielder Taddeo Lwanga from Vipers SC, bolstering their squad ahead of the upcoming season.

The transfer was confirmed by Vipers SC, who posted a farewell message on their social media channels. The Ugandan champions wished the midfielder well on his move to the FKF Premier League.

"Vipers SC bid farewell to our former midfielder, Taddeo Lwanga, as he embarks on a new chapter. We wish you all the very best for the journey ahead. May your star continue to shine brightly with AFC Leopards SC in Kenya," the statement read.

Lwanga, 32, joins Ingwe with a formidable reputation as one of the most decorated midfielders in the CECAFA region. His extensive career includes stints in Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Egypt, and Djibouti.

Known for his leadership, composure, and ball-winning skills, the defensive midfielder first made his name with successful spells at Express SC, SC Villa, and Vipers SC. His impressive performances led to moves abroad, where he played for Simba SC in Tanzania, APR FC in Rwanda, Tanta SC in Egypt, and AS Arta/Solar7 in Djibouti.

Lwanga's trophy cabinet includes five league titles across East Africa: three Uganda Premier League crowns with Vipers, a Tanzanian Premier League title with Simba, and a Rwandan league championship with APR FC.

On the international front, Lwanga has earned 25 caps for the Uganda Cranes. A highlight of his career was representing his nation at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, where Uganda advanced to the knockout stages.

His arrival is expected to add steel and invaluable experience to the AFC Leopards midfield. The 12-time Kenyan champions are looking to build a squad capable of mounting a serious title challenge after finishing as runners-up last season.
