How Arsenal won the Communiy Shield
The curtain raiser for the Premier League season began in feisty fashion with both teams pressing high, setting the tone for a frenetic encounter.
After some City dominance, Arsenal began to create openings and should have scored at least twice. Kai Havertz was the culprit, missing two good chances to put the Gunners ahead.
Stefan Ortega in the Man City goal was the busier of the two keepers as the Treble winners struggled to keep Mikel Arteta's men at bay.
The second half was much different as City started to play better and more direct.
Guardiola took off Erling Haaland and Mateo Kovacic, replacing them with Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden. Cole Palmer was also sent on for Jack Grealish and he opened the scoring with a delightful effort into the far corner.
As the clock approached 100 minutes, Leandro Trossard saw his shot deflect off Akanji to give Arteta's men a well-deserved equaliser.
As penalty shoot-outs go, this one was over fairly quickly. Kevin De Bruyne and Rodri missed for City and Arsenal made no mistake.
