Atalanta set asking price for Lookman as PSG offer to double Super Eagles star’s ₦3 billion salary
Atalanta's Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman is currently at the center of a high-profile transfer saga, with Paris Saint-Germain and Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli showing a keen interest in a summer move.
The Serie A club has now reportedly set a hefty asking price for Lookman, who is apparently intent on a summer transfer.
PSG offer Lookman lucrative deal
Lookman has been a standout performer in recent months for Nigeria and Atalanta, leading La Dea to their first ever European trophy with a hat-trick in the 2024 Europa League final triumph.
The Nigerian’s heroics have gained the attention of PSG, whose approach has significantly irritated Atalanta, as they have not yet opened negotiations with the club and have instead gone directly to the player with an enticing offer.
The reigning Ligue 1 champions are keen to sign the Nigerian and have reportedly proposed a lucrative contract to Lookman, worth €4.5 million per season, which would more than double his current salary of €1.8 million at Atalanta.
This substantial increase has clearly influenced Lookman’s decision-making, with the Nigeria international reportedly requesting to be left out of Atalanta's Serie A squad for their match against Lecce.
Atalanta's set price for Lookman deal
Given the late stage of the transfer window and the difficulty in finding a suitable replacement, Atalanta is holding firm on their asking price.
The Serie A giants are struggling to keep hold of key players, with ongoing issues with other stars, such as Dutch midfielder Teun Koopmeiners, who is also attracting interest from Juventus.
According to reports in Italy, Atalanta will not even consider parting with Lookman, unless the Nigerian’s suitors meet a minimum fee of €40 million, before the end of the current transfer window which closes in 12 days.
