Auburn celebrates Nigeria's Kanyinsola Ajayi's 6th Place finish at World Athletics Championships
Auburn University’s track and field community is buzzing with following the remarkable achievement of rising star from Nigeria Kanyinsola Ajayi.
Ajayi secured a historic 6th place finish in the men’s 100m final at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.

Ajayi, representing Nigeria wearing the green and white clocked an impressive 10.00 seconds in the final.
This finish marks a significant milestone, as he became the first Nigerian man in the world championships final in 18 years.
Auburn took to social media to celebrate the achievement of their athlete.
Along with photos from the final was a message that said, "Let that sink in, sixth in the WORLD

"From dropping a personal best in round one (9.88) and running 9.93 in semis, history has been made."
His journey to the final was extraordinary, highlighted by a stunning 9.93-second run to finish 2nd in his 100m semifinal at the Tokyo 2025 World Championships.
The 20-year-old sprinter, who hails from Ikorodu, Nigeria, has been a standout at Auburn, where he continues to hone his skills.
