Barcelona's midfield maestro, Pedri, has revealed his dream signing for the Catalan giants—none other than Manchester City's goal machine, Erling Haaland.
This revelation came during a candid conversation on Ibai Llanos' Twitch channel, where Pedri expressed his admiration for the Norwegian striker's incredible goal-scoring prowess.
Pedri's Dream Signing
"The guy is a cyborg. He scores so many goals," Pedri said, per ESPN, lauding Haaland's exceptional talent. The young Barcelona star's comments come against the backdrop of Barça President Joan Laporta's previous talks with Haaland's late agent, Mino Raiola. Unfortunately for Barcelona, they were priced out of a deal, and Haaland eventually made his way to Manchester City in 2022.
Since then, Haaland has been nothing short of sensational, scoring 71 goals in 75 appearances and playing a pivotal role in City's treble last season, which included their first-ever Champions League trophy.
Balancing Act: Lewandowski, Roque, and the Future
Pedri also touched upon the dynamics of having both Haaland and Robert Lewandowski at the club. Acknowledging Lewandowski's age, he mentioned, "Unfortunately, Robert is not going to play until he is 60, and Haaland is much younger."
This statement reflects the ongoing evolution of Barça's frontline, especially with the recent addition of Brazilian striker Vitor Roque from Club Athletico Paranaense. The 18-year-old Brazilian has already made a positive impression, with Pedri commenting, "He is always smiling. Brazilian players transmit magic."
What’s more?
Barcelona's ambitions don't stop there. They are reportedly eyeing a midfield reinforcement in January, with Girona's Aleix GarcÃa on their radar. Pedri's approval of GarcÃa was evident as he playfully noted, "You can see how much because I have him on my Fantasy Football team this season."
Pedri, currently sidelined due to an injury, expressed his uncertainty about his return. "I don't know when I will be back... but I hope to return soon," he said. He also shared insights into his new approach to fitness and diet, influenced by advice from Barça legend Carles Puyol and a change in diet, as he navigates through a challenging phase of his career.
