Barcelona's new signing Dani Olmo to wear number of legend and former captain
Barcelona have completed their first major signing of the summer, with Dani Olmo preparing to don the Blaugrana colours after completing his contract signing at the Ciutat Esportiva.
The deal, which sees Olmo join from RB Leipzig for a fee of €62 million (with €7 million in potential add-ons), should also see him remain with the Spanish giants until 2030.

Deco, who now serves as Barcelona’s sporting director, played a crucial role in bringing Olmo to the Spotify Camp Nou, and the Spanish midfielder will be hoping to replicate the Portuguese’s impact with the Blaugrana, which saw them lift the Champions League title in 2006.

The 26-year-old Spain international spent the last four years at RB Leipzig, where he made a name for himself as one of Europe’s top attacking midfielders. He also starred for Spain at Euro 2024, winning a slice of the Golden Boot as La Roja claimed their fourth European crown.
Olmo’s farewell to RB Leipzig
Before making the move to Barcelona, Olmo bid farewell to RB Leipzig, the club where he enjoyed tremendous success after joining from Dinamo Zagreb.

The Spanish playmaker expressed his gratitude to the German side in a heartfelt message on social media, thanking the club and its fans for their support during his time in the Bundesliga.
During his time with Leipzig, Olmo scored 29 goals and provided 34 assists in 148 games, helping them to consecutive DFB Pokal titles in 2022 and 2023.
Olmo’s arrival at Barcelona signals the start of a new chapter in his career, as he looks to continue his development and contribute to one of the world’s most storied football clubs.
