The 22-year-old made his home debut against the Super Cup winners and proved a handful for the duration of time he was on the pitch.
Boniface picked up an assist in the game after he excellently set up Frimpong for the opener in the 24th minute.
In what was also his debut in the Bundesliga, the former Union Saint-Gilloise star put in a solid performance before he was subbed off in the 89th minute.

Bayer vs Leipzig
The Bayern Munich slayers started on the front foot as they looked to kick off their Bundesliga in style.
However, they met a solid Leverkusen side inspired and motivated to end a terrible run of five matches without a win.
Bayer took a 2-0 lead in the opening 35 minutes thanks to goals from Frimpong and Tah before Olmo pulled one back heading into the break.
Superstar Writz restored Bayer’s two-goal just after the hour mark but summer signing Openda pulled back a second for Leipzig who will not fall without a fight.
In the end, Bayer held off late pressure to kick off their season with a win.
What the result means
Bayer finally win for the first time in five matches to get their campaign off to a perfect start.
Leipzig begin with a defeat but will have plenty of positives to take from the game.
