Newly-promoted Kenyan National Super League (NSL) side APS Bomet may be forced to play their home matches outside Bomet County if the unfinished 37,000-seat stadium isn't completed before the start of next season's FKF Premier League (FKFPL).

Construction on the IAAF-standard stadium began in 2014 under former governor Isaac Ruto but stalled, leaving it without essential features like a perimeter wall.

Last season, the football federation was reluctant to allow APS FC to use the ground unless fan behavior improved, particularly regarding pitch invasions.

Stadiums Fate in Limbo

Former MOFA coach Charles Odera, who previously managed APS, believes the stadium's current condition is unlikely to meet the federation's approval.

A committee is scheduled to visit within a month to assess its suitability.

Although the terraces are erected, the facility is in a poor state. Cracked walls and overgrown vegetation on the un-compacted surfaces are among the issues.

Bomet County FKF chairman David Siele stated that his office is yet to meet with federation president Hussein Mohamed to discuss securing funds to address these challenges.

“APS hosts its final NSL match this Saturday against SS Assad FC. We'll use this opportunity after the game to organize a fundraiser," Siele explained as quoted by Citizen Digital.

"We're also appealing to the county government for support.”

APS patron Rose Chemutai urged fans to rally behind the team and provide financial assistance as they look forward to tussle with FKFPL big wigs like Kenya Police, Gor Mahia and Co.
