Coming off the back of a 3-0 first-leg win, the Bavarians strolled to a 2-0 second-leg triumph to ensure a healthy 5-0 aggregate win over their compatriots.

Following a goalless first half with chances for both teams, Harry Kane opened the scoring in the 52nd minute, calmly finishing after Joshua Kimmich’s free-kick found him in the box.

The goal all but ended Leverkusen’s hopes, forcing Xabi Alonso to introduce Victor Boniface and Amine Adli in a desperate attempt to spark a comeback.

However, Bayern delivered the final blow in the 71st minute when Kane set up Alphonso Davies, who charged into the box and slotted home to make it 2-0.

Jamal Musiala nearly added a third, hitting the woodwork twice late on, but Bayern comfortably saw out the match.

The result confirmed their place in the quarter-finals, where they will face Inter Milan, who eliminated Feyenoord with a 4-1 aggregate win.
