Despite Bremen's early pressure, it was the visitors who struck first in the 28th minute. A precise cut-back from Sael Kumbedi found Mattias Svanberg, who finished coolly from close range.

The home side struggled to break down a resilient Wolfsburg defense after the break. Manager Horst Steffen’s decision to introduce substitutes Boniface and Samuel Mbangula proved to be the game-changer, injecting new life and intensity into the attack.

The renewed pressure finally paid off in the 83rd minute. Following an excellent cross from Yukinari Sugawara, Jens Stage rose highest to power a header past keeper Kamil Grabara to level the score.

Stoppage-Time Drama Secures Victory

With the home crowd roaring, Bremen pushed for a winner. Deep into injury time, the drama unfolded. A scramble in the Wolfsburg box followed a strong shot from Boniface’s attempted overhead kick.

The ball fell kindly to Mbangula, who reacted quickest to smash it home for the sensational 94th-minute comeback victory.
