However, on Friday, in a press conference previewing Brighton's Premier League opener against Fulham, Seagulls manager Fabian Hurzeler was quite definitive when questioned about Old Trafford's interest in the 21-year-old.

"I'm very, very confident he'll stay. I haven't noticed any change in him. The only thing that's changed is his hair," the German manager quipped, drawing laughter from the room. On a more serious note, Hurzeler added, "He enjoys being here. I see him in a very good place mentally."

Baleba was one of Brighton's standout performers last season, making 40 appearances, scoring four goals and providing two assists. And, judging by the Brighton manager's words, Ruben Amorim will have to... wait.

United Not Giving Up on Baleba Just Yet

United have been reported to be in talks with the midfielder's representatives through intermidiaries and are weighing uo the possibility of submitting a big-monye bid if they receive encouragement that he is ready to switch to Old Trafford.

The Cameroonian is said to be keen to move but will wait to see what United do although the Premier League giants are believed to be looking to offload some players before putting together a package for the highly-rated central midfielder.

United are in talks with AS Roma for the transfer of Jadon Sancho while Chelsea are also advancing on Alejandro Garnacho. Those two, plus the potential departures of Antony and Rasmus Hojlund could free up funds for United to submit a bid of around 100m million pounds for Baleba to test Brighton's resolve.
