Spain have been the most impressive team in the tournament by any metric. After beating France to reach the final, they became the first team to win six consecutive games at the European Championships. They have also scored the most goals and conceded the least.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, De La Fuente expressed his euphoria.

“We are very happy; the happiness was already great to get here but now it is much greater,” De La Fuente said, per Football Espana. “I feel a lot of pride for these players; they are exceptional, they know how to play and read the games in an extraordinary way.

“We have returned Spanish football to where it belongs. We have to value what these players are doing. We want to continue making history; we don’t want to relax; we have to stay focused to face the final in Berlin.”

Spain will play the winner between England and the Netherlands for the final of the competition. When asked which of both sides he would prefer to face, Luis bullishly replied, saying, “It doesn’t matter who the opponent is; we’ve already seen the journey we’ve had in this European Championship.”

“They are two great rivals and we are waiting for them with open arms. We want to win the final.”

A triumph for Spain would set them apart as the most successful team in European Championship history. They are currently tied with Germany for three trophies each.
