Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has reportedly rejected a direct approach from Cristiano Ronaldo to join him at Al-Nassr.
According to TalkSPORT, the Portuguese playmaker has received multiple offers from Saudi Pro League clubs, including three firm approaches, but is determined to remain at Old Trafford for at least one more season.
Despite the lucrative financial incentives on offer, Fernandes is said to prefer continuing his career in Europe as he eyes the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Sources suggest that the 30-year-old will continue to reject any further advances from Saudi clubs.
Since arriving in 2020, Fernandes has been a pivotal figure at Manchester United, providing goals, creativity, and leadership in a side that has often struggled for consistency. With the Red Devils reluctant to part ways with their talisman without a significant transfer fee, Fernandes’ decision comes as a major boost to the club’s ambitions this season.
The midfielder recently helped United secure their first Premier League win of the campaign, scoring from the penalty spot in a 3-2 victory over Burnley.
Ronaldo’s influence at Al-Nassr
Cristiano Ronaldo, who extended his contract at Al-Nassr earlier this year, has been granted significant influence in recruitment at the Saudi outfit.
The Portuguese legend had hoped to form a formidable attacking partnership with Fernandes and fellow countryman João Félix, who joined Al-Nassr after Jhon Duran’s short-lived stint ended earlier this summer.
However, Fernandes has chosen not to follow his national team captain to the Middle East, prioritising European competition over a Saudi switch.
Fernandes now shifts his attention back to United’s season. Ruben Amorim’s men face a huge test next weekend as they prepare for the Manchester derby against Pep Guardiola’s City at the Etihad.
