Manchester United’s captain, Bruno Fernandes, sent a letter to the club’s fans to acknowledge the support of Red Devil faithfuls from Nigeria.
What Bruno Fernandes said
The 28-year-old midfielder put out a lengthy message on the Player's Tribune, in which he spoke directly to fans of the Red Devils.
He narrated his first experience at Old Trafford as a Manchester United player and reminisced on how quickly fans of the club accepted him.
He also acknowledged the fans from all over the world who are unable to visit the stadium and specifically mentioned fans from Nigeria and Hong Kong.
“All the people who went for drinks at the bar at halftime were singing my song.”
“I was stunned, because I had only signed three days before! I was thinking, How do they even know I am any good? YouTube? Everybody looks good on YouTube! How did they come up with the lyrics in four days???
“There will always be those who don’t like your football, but 99% of you have only shown me love. To this day, whenever I see someone on the other side of the world wearing my shirt, it gives me such a special feeling. People send me photos from Hong Kong or from Nigeria wearing my number 8 shirt, and every single time, it makes me feel so surprised and humble.
