The Paris 2024 Olympics kicked off with a bang as music icons Celine Dion and Lady Gaga put on show-stopping performances during the opening ceremony.

The 38-year-old Grammy winner was the picture of elegance in a stunning Dior gown as she was joined by a troupe of dancers wielding pink feather fans.
But the real showstopper came later in the evening when the legendary Celine Dion made a triumphant return to the stage.
In her first major appearance since being diagnosed with the rare neurological condition stiff person syndrome, the 56-year-old chanteuse was a vision in all-white as she shone brightly on the Eiffel Tower backdrop.
Dion's powerful rendition of Edith Piaf's 'Hymne à l'amour' brought the capacity crowd to its feet after the Olympic cauldron was lit.

It was a vibrant celebration of unity and diversity, with a stunning display of music, dance, language and culture, featuring Nigeria led by Tobi Amusan, that captivated millions around the globe.
As the Seine transformed into a floating stage and the city's iconic landmarks featured prominently, viewers were treated to a visual spectacle that will live long in the memory.
