Pulse Sports reported last month that Chelsea were closing in on the appointment after both parties entered the final stages of talks and looked to iron out the fine details.
Pochettino arrives with a great deal of experience having progressed from Spanish side Espanyol to Paris Saint Germain via Southampton and an excellent spell at Tottenham.
He led Spurs to the Champions League final in 2019 and several impressive league finishes during his time with the London club.
Chelsea welcome Pochettino
Chelsea released a statement welcoming the Argentine manager to the club, with the club's owners confirming that the Argentine had been selected after an extensive process.
A joint statement from all the owners said, "The sporting team conducted a diligent and thoughtful process that the Board is proud of.
"We are delighted that Mauricio will be joining Chelsea. Mauricio is a world-class coach with an outstanding track record. We are all looking forward to having him on board.'
Pochettino will officially start on June 1, 2023, as the preparations for next season start in earnest.
