Immediate impact of Kerr’s injury on Chelsea

The injury is a significant setback for Chelsea, given Kerr's role in their offensive strength. It raises concerns about the team's performance in ongoing competitions such as the Women’s Super League and the UEFA Women’s Champions League.

Kerr's absence is expected to be deeply felt at both the club and international levels, impacting the Australian national team's preparations for the upcoming Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.

Kerr's Rehabilitation and Recovery

Kerr will undergo an assessment by a specialist, followed by rehabilitation with Chelsea’s medical team. The recovery period for an ACL injury typically ranges from six to nine months, indicating Kerr might be sidelined until at least July 2024. This means she will miss the remainder of the 2023/24 Women’s Super League season and the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
