Chelsea midfielder out for the season after surgery

Mason Mount has addressed Chelsea supporters after undergoing minor surgery after a lengthy injury battle.

Frank Lampard suspended the English midfielder for the remainder of the season, possibly because he had played so little under the interim management. 

His lone outing thus far was a brief 16-minute cameo against Brighton.

Since the middle of February, Mount has had fitness problems. 

Under Graham Potter, he has missed five straight league games because of an abdominal injury. 

Since there wasn't much left to play for until the summer, Mount updated his followers on Instagram.

He took to his official social media accounto show off his recovery from surgery.

Along with a photo was a message that said, "Had a minor procedure yesterday to sort out a discomfort I had for a while. 

"Everything went well and I’m feeling good. Time to rest but can’t wait to get back to training in the coming weeks! 

“Thanks for all your messages of support and a massive thank you to the medical team, doctors and nurses for looking after me.”

As the club moves into the summer, Mount is at the center of important contract negotiations that could result in the club selling him.
