Adams, is widely expected to leave Leeds United after their relegation from the top flight last season.
It has been reported that several players in their squad, have release clauses in the event of relegation.
Chelsea to move for Leeds' Adams
According to The Athletic, Chelsea are keen on the 24-year-old with the squad severely lacking in high quality midfield options.
Brighton's Moises Caicedo is Chelsea's key target but there is yet o be an agreement on the fee with the Seagulls, who are demanding at least £100m.
Adams is not seen as an alternative to Caicedo, but a player who can compete for first team minutes immediately.
He emerged from Leeds’ relegation campaign with his reputation still high among European teams, having missed the last two months of the season through injury.
