Chelsea have one of the biggest first-team squads in the Premier League. They are now on a mission to trim their fattened squad and are said to have a list of twelve players who they are actively seeking to offload this summer.
What happened
The Todd Bhoely-led consortium’s acquisition of Chelsea has seen the club go ham in the transfer window, acquiring as many talents as they can lay their hands on.
This has left them with a bloated squad, and even after setting out on a mission to reduce their squad last summer, they find themselves in a similar situation again and are looking to offload players in an effort to reduce their wage bill and streamline their squad.
The players on the list
According to the report from Mirror, this list of 12 is headlined by Romelu Lukaku, who continues to be on the books of Chelsea despite his seemingly irreparable rift with the club.
They have managed to get one of the players on this list, Malang Sarr, out of the club, as the French defender recently secured a move to Ligue 1 side Lens. For youngsters on the list like Andrey Santos, Alfie Gilchrist and Lesley Ugochukwu, the club is working on a loan deal.
Also on the list are Kepa Arrizabalaga, David Datro Fofana and Cesare Casadei, who all had unsuccessful loan spells last season.
Of the players who were in the Chelsea set-up last season, Conor Gallagher, vice-captain Ben Chilwell, Trevor Chalobah, and Djordje Petrovic have been transfer-listed.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are simultaneously in the market for additions and have now joined in the race for Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez.
