Chosen one: Liverpool, Chelsea in race to sign top manager who could end Guardiola's reign

Liverpool and Chelsea will reportedly go head to head for the signature of Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi.

According to the Times, Brighton are worried De Zerb will leave the club should he receive a concrete offer from a top club, with Liverpool and Chelsea considering him as a potential new manager.

Jurgen Klopp has already confirmed he will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season. At the same time, Mauricio Pochettino’s future at Chelsea appears quite uncertain with his team currently sitting 11th in the Premier League table.

The Seagulls boss has little over two years left on his contract at the Amex, but there’s a reported £11m release clause which should not prove too daunting for the Premier League big boys to pay.

De Zerbi led Brighton to a 6th place finish and the FA Cup semifinal last season, and currently has them 8th in the PL table.
