I won't pick coach's call — Chukwueze explains why he prefers World Cup win with Nigeria to 3 UCL titles
AC Milan’s new signing Samuel Chukwueze has revealed that he would prefer to win big with Nigeria Super Eagles than his club.
Chukwueze has said that he would prefer to win the FIFA World Cup to three UEAF Champions League titles with his club side.
The winger made the comment from Uyo, Akwa Ibom, where the the Super Eagles are preparing to face Sao Tome and Principe in the AFCONQ2023.
Chukwueze and Super Eagles
The Milan wide-forward and his compatriots are hoping to bring smiles to the faces of Nigerians later on Sunday.
While the clash against the Falcons and True Parrots is a dead rubber in Group B, Nigeria is looking to end the qualifiers on a high.
The Super Eagles currently sit top of the group and have already qualified alongside side second-placed Guinea-Bissau, who are just two points behind.
However, Jose Peseiro would love to see his side make Nigerians proud at home in the final game of the qualifiers.
In the reverse fixture played last summer, in what was just the second competitive match under the Portuguese manager, the Eagles thrashed the Falcons 10-0 to make history.
On World Cup
Speaking on the game amongst other things, the former Villarreal man had the chance to show how much the Eagles mean to.
He was asked to choose between a World Cup win with Nigeria and three Champions League titles and Chukwueze’s answer was emphatic and heartwarming.
According to him, a World Cup win will be too crazy to ignore compared to the Champions League.
“I think I prefer one World Cup to three UCL titles,” he said in a video posted on TikTok by Football fan Tribe.
“Winning the World Cup for Nigeria I think it’s going to be a crazy moment for Nigerians. I think I will not sleep throughout three days or a month. I will not sleep, I won’t even pick my coach’s call because if I win the World Cup, i won’t pick his call for a month because we are still celebrating.”
