Cristiano Ronaldo: Portugal captain suspended for Euro 2024 qualifier against Luxembourg

Ronaldo will miss Portugal's next game, against Slovakia after picking up a third yellow card of the qualifying campaign.

The legendary forward was also lucky to escape further punishment after catching Slovakia goalkeeper Martin Dubravka in the face with a stray boot. 

However, Ronaldo escaped a sending-off and survived a VAR review.

Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes scored the only goal of the game, against a stubborn Slovakia side determined to preserve their impressive record at home.

A win against Luxemburg will confirm Portugal's place at next year's Euros and Ronaldo will have to watch from the stands.
