Cristiano Ronaldo's showdown versus Lionel Messi gets 2 million tickets request
Cristiano Ronaldo's highly-anticipated debut for Al-Nassr is attracting a lot of demand. Ronaldo joined the Saudi Arabian club in a deal that has been dubbed the most expensive in football's history.
However, since he joined the club, Ronaldo has yet to make his debut on the football pitch. The Portugal international was expected to make his bow last week, but could not play due to a two-match he received for an offence he committed while at Manchester United.
Ronaldo fever hit Saudi Arabia
But after days of waiting, Ronaldo is finally set to make his debut for Al-Nassr against PSG on January 19.
And according to ESPN, the ticket request for the encounter has gone through the roof, with over two million people in queue. The match will be a special occasion for the Portuguese star as he will face his longtime rival Lionel Messi.
Both Ronaldo and Messi have had a long-standing rivalry which dates back to 2007. The two superstars have battled for every individual and team honours since their paths first crossed each other in 2007.
They went head-to-head with each other during their time together in the Spanish La Liga while they also played against each other in the UEFA Champions League.
It looked like there would not be another meeting between the two after Ronaldo signed for Al-Nassr. But PSG's mid-season tour of the Saudi Arabia means the two modern greats will get to meet for possibly one last time.
Initially the match was planned for 2021, but it was postponed due to Covid-19 concerns.
