Nigeria's women's national basketball team known as the D’Tigress, have made a massive jump in the latest FIBA Women's World Rankings.

The team led by coach Rena Wakama are now ranked eighth position in the world.

D'Tigress ranked 8th

The team has demonstrated its prowess by clinching the African Championship title in 2017 and now have won five in a row.

Nigeria's D'Tigress produced a comeback to defeat Senegal 75-68 and book a place in the 2025 Women's Afrobasket final - FIBA

They are the only African team to reach the quarter-finals of both the FIBA Women's World Cup and the Olympic Games.

The D’Tigress' move up three spots from their previous position and a score of 840.9 points.

This takes them to eighth-place in the ranking ahead of basketball giants like Spain, Brazil, and Japan.

Nigeria stands as the highest-ranked African team at 8th, with Mali, the second-placed African team, trailing at 18th.
