Kenya’s Edwin Kibet reaffirmed his dominance at the 2025 Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, crossing the finish line in an impressive time of 2:14:19:17 to claim victory.

The 2023 champion displayed remarkable resilience, outpacing an elite field featuring Kenyan compatriots.

Kibet’s stellar performance not only secured him back-to-back titles but also earned him the marathon’s top prize of $50,000.

His victory further cements his status as one of the event’s most formidable competitors.

Kenya asserted its dominance in the men’s category, securing a clean sweep of the podium.

Nehemiah Kipyegon finished second with a time of 2:16:37:47, while Bernard Cheruiyot clocked 2:17:17:13 to take third place.

In the women’s race, Ethiopia’s Guta Meseret Hirpa claimed her maiden Lagos City Marathon title, completing the course in an unofficial time of 2:37:04.08.

Hirpa’s triumph continues Ethiopia’s strong tradition of success in the women’s category, further solidifying their legacy in the prestigious marathon.
