Enzo Maresca has stated that Cole Palmer felt something in his hamstring during Chelsea's UEFA Conference League playoff round success over Servette on Thursday.
Chelsea vs Servette
The Blues secured a 2-0 victory over the Swiss side in the first leg of their Conference League play-off after goals from Christopher Nkunku and Noni Madueke gave the Blues a commanding lead heading into the second leg.
Despite the win, Maresca had one negative news that possibly soured the night for Chelsea when he revealed Palmer's possible hamstring issue.
What Maresca said about Palmer
Despite the images of Palmer leaving the Stamford Bridge turg holding his right hamstring, Maresca downplayed the severity of the Englishman’s injury.
He stated that Palmer had felt something but appeared to be fine after an initial check before expressing optimism that the PFA Young Player of the Year would be available for the upcoming Premier League match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
“Cole felt something but he looks fine," said the Chelsea head coach. “They already checked him, he looks okay, hopefully it’s not any problem and he can be available for Sunday’s game."
What comes next?
Chelsea travel to Wolves on Sunday, August 25, keen to return to winning ways in the Premier League after their 2-0 loss to Manchester City in gameweek one.
