Erling Haaland: Manchester City forward makes fantasy league history
Manchester City’s Erling Haaland has broken another record in the Premier League just after game week one.
Haaland has become a phenomenon and the main man in the Fantasy Premier League, FPL.
The 22-year-old broke every available record last season following his summer move from Borussia Dortmund to City.
Haaland at City
Following his celebrated move to the Etihad, the Norwegian sensation has gone on to break records en route to leading the Cityzens to an unprecedented treble.
Haaland needed 36 goals to become the first player to score that many goals in a single season in Premier League history.
His goals proved decisive for the Cityzens who came from behind to see off Arsenal to lift the league title for a third successive season.
Fantasy superstar
The reigning Player of the Year has kicked off the 2023/24 campaign as he did the last, with a brace which saw him equal an interesting Premier League held by Ivory Coast and Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.
He has picked up from where he stopped as City started their quest for another unprecedented feat - becoming the first to win four league titles in a row.
Haaland netted a fantastic double to inspire City to a routine 3-0 win against newly promoted Burnley at Turf Moor.
That performance against the Clarets saw the Norwegian reward his over 90 per cent owners in Fantasy Premier League, FPL.
The City was selected by 90.6% of managers for matchday one, making him the most selected player ever in FPL history, according to a post by the FPL.
With the Cityzens at home to Newcastle United next at the Etihad, it is left to be seen how many managers will leave Haaland in their teams against the Magpies who kicked off their campaign with a sensational 5-1 destruction of Aston Villa.
