Ese Brume set for 2024 season opener against world championships bronze medallist in Kazakhstan
Long jump queen Ese Brume will begin her 2024 season at the Astana Indoor Meet for Amin Tuyakov Prizes in Kazakhstan this weekend.
The meet is the first leg of the World Athletics Indoor Tour series and will feature some of the world's best athletes, who will be gunning to begin their season on a brilliant note.
Brume is listed to compete in her trademark event - the long jump, and will face a stiff competitor in world championships bronze medallist Alina Rotaru-Kottmann.
The Romanian stopped the Nigerian medal-winning streak at major championships by claiming the bronze medal with her last jump at the 2023 World Championships in Budapest and will want to prove it wasn't a fluke by going for another win.
Brume, on the other hand, will have her eyes set on claiming the win to begin her season on a brilliant note and have her revenge.
As the reigning silver medallist at the 2022 World Indoor Championships in Belgrade, the African Record holder will see this meet as the first step towards a successful indoor season ahead of the Paris Olympic Games.
